ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR HOG RAISERS | Davao Occidental is known as the ‘province of endless possibilities’ and the Demoloc United FA (DUFA) embodies this quality as it is the first beneficiary to receive a cheque for the implementation of community-based swine production under the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program worth P5,500,000.00. Under the project, P4,475,000.00 is allocated for the biosecure housing facility for swine, P525,000.00 for 75 swine heads, and P500,000.00 for feeds and biologics.
Department of Agriculture XI Regional Executive Director Abel James I. Monteagudo, together with RTD for Operations Dr. Marila L. Corpuz, and Livestock Program focal Monday J. Aretaño turned over the cheque to DUFA chairperson Alberto U. Baliota II.
In his message, RED Monteagudo said that INSPIRE is just one of the programs of DA which seeks to help the hog raisers who were affected by ASF. He hopes that Davao Occidental will continue rising from ASF through this program.
“For the beneficiaries, I remind you to always follow the protocol to avoid the recurrence of ASF. There is no vaccine for it so you need to be careful. Cooperation and unity are the keys to the success of this program, and I urge you to continue your support since this will benefit you and your livelihood,” said Monteagudo.
DUFA chairperson Baliota expressed his gratitude to DA-XI for the INSPIRE Program and the Davao Occidental LGU for its support.
“Thank you to the DA-XI staff who gave their time and effort to make sure that this program will push through. So far, this is the first time that I have seen a government agency working so hard, and people are always welcome in their office when they have questions or concerns,” said Baliota.
He also committed to RED Monteagudo that the success of the INSPIRE program in Malita will serve as an example to other provinces.
Councilor Carlo Chino Baliota, Provincial Veterinarian Nestor V. Barroga, and a representative from the office of Lorna P. Bautista-Bandigan gave their commitment to support and assist DUFA for the continued success of the INSPIRE Program.
