Filipino farmers is regarded as the backbone of our country because they guarantee food security for all Filipinos. The Department of Agriculture continues to empower them by providing programs, trainings, farm machineries and subsidies to increase their crop production while achieving an increase to their income.
Thus, on August 23, 2022, DA distributed 180 fuel discount cards worth Php3000 each and 88 fertilizer subsidy coupons worth Php2000 each to the corn farmers at the Savoy Gymnasium in Matanao, Davao del Sur.
Agriculture Regional Executive Director Abel James I. Monteagudo, in his message said that to ensure the advancement of the farmer’s lives, farmer’s initiative to ask aid and support from local government units is needed.
He acknowledged the farmers for the huge contribution of continuously providing food for the country despite different crises saying that farmers’ sacrifice is highly appreciated.
“We look forward that these humble steps of the agency will provide a big impact on the lives of the farmers and for the country as a whole”, he added.
