Described as super cute bull calf with his white and brown-colored head with curly hair signifies his being mestizo incomparable to the native calf. He looks stunning, compact and healthy as he feeds from his mother. His mother is the first generation cross breed of native and miniature Hereford bull and his father is the famous also first generation bull named Red, which are both products of a study conducted in partnership with the University of the Philippines - Mindanao.
 
Agriculture Regional Executive Director Abel James I. Monteagudo lauded the caretakers and staff of SGBS for taking good care of the animals specifically the cattle and made them healthy, compact and productive animals.
 
“These bull calf is one of the products of our research in our quest to produce efficient breed of cattle that will contribute to our goal of providing affordable food for all”, Monteagudo said.
Because of their smaller size, the miniature Herefords are much easier to handle compared to large cattle. They require less space for comfortable living quarters and they eat far less food.
This breed eat 30-40% less than their full size counterparts. They possess a gentle disposition making them easy to handle. They also mature more quickly than the standard breeds. According to the study, this crossed breed cattle require less acreage and cost less to house making them perfect for small farms. They have superior feed conversion and adapt to a variety of environments with varying conditions and temperatures.
