BIG BROTHER, SMALL BROTHER | As the proponent group of the P24.9-million Cacao Production and Beans Marketing project under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), the Kapalong Cooperative (KC) plays the big brother to eight farmer associations engaged in cacao farming.
During the documentation and assessment of the status of operation and implementation of the said project conducted by the IREAP component of RPCO XI, KC and its partner associations shared how they worked together as big and small brothers.
Big brother KC provides technical and financial assistance to its small brothers aside from an assured market of thier cacao wet beans.
In return, the clustered farmer associations deliver the volume of cacao wet beans that KC needs to also meet the demand in the bigger market.
The assessment was also joined by the IREAP component representatives of the PRDP National Program Coordination Office and Program Support Office in Mindanao.
