Today, DA-XI Regional Executive Director Abel James Monteagudo led the turnover of P3.1-million worth of farm machinery under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program to the 12 Farmer Cooperative/Associations (FCAs) in Davao de Oro and P52,000 worth of vegetable seeds and garden tools in support to the Gulayan sa Barangay and Gulayan sa Kampo in the province.
“I just want to emphasize that the Rice Tariffication Law is Pro-Consumer and Pro-Farmer. Consumers have now access to affordable food while we make sure that our farming communities are empowered thru the provision of mechanization support, quality seeds, skills training and credit assistance on top of the DA regular programs,” said Monteagudo.
He added that he is thankful to the Provincial and Municipal Local Government Units for the continued support and active collaboration with the DA-XI as the agency rallies support from the LGUs to expand the coverage of its programs and projects based on understanding of social and economic conditions of their localities.
Meanwhile, Davao de Oro Provincial Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy has expressed his strong commitment to continue to intensify its programs and projects for the agriculture sector.
“We thank you DA-XI for the pooling resources for the benefit of our farmers here in Davao de Oro. We are expecting more collaborations with you as we join the march for a more food-secure Philippines with prosperous farmers and fisherfolk,” said Uy. | via Janelle Tabalina Flores and Celso C.
