The Department of Agriculture (DA) launches its "Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontra sa COVID-19 " or which will be popularly called "Plant, Plant, Plant."

"On top of our [DA's] regular budget for 2020, we are proposing a supplemental budget of P32-billion to fund the Plant, Plant, Plant," said DA Secretary William D. Dar stressing:

"With Covid-19 pandemic, we expect a tightening of global food supply. We are aware that when there is not enough food, disorder is probable."

The "Plant, Plant, Plant" program will include expansion of farm areas, rice resiliency project, palay procurement fund for NFA, expanded SURE Aid and recovery program, social amelioration for farmers and farm workers, integrated livestock and corn resiliency project, revitalized gulayan project and urban agriculture, coconut-based diversification project, and fishery resiliency project.

"While improving our food adequacy level, we should aim for food security. If no action is done, the threat of hunger is as real as the threat of the virus," Sec. Dar said.
