Among all Department of Agriculture (DA) offices, DA Davao Region is the first Red Orchid Awardee.
The award is annually bestowed by the Department of Health (DOH) to local government units, centers for health development, government hospitals and government offices for advocating 100% Tobacco-Free Environments.
In February this year, Director Remelyn R. Recoter received the award together with members of the DA-11 Anti-Smoking Task Force (ASTF).
“We strictly implemented the No Smoking Policy in the office to prioritize the health of our employees,” Recoter said.
She hopes to inspire other government agencies to intensify their campaign against smoking.
The winners of the Red Orchid Award were chosen on the strength of their comprehensive efforts to implement a 100% Tobacco-Free Environment.
