DA-XI Regional Executive Director Abel James Monteagudo, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Andres Alemania, and Field Operations Division Chief Marie Ann Constantino led the distribution of the livestock production package which includes 5,344 heads of upgraded native chickens, 13 units of egg incubators, and 90 heads of upgraded goat.
“Given the continuous strong support of our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, DA assures to assist our farmers especially the IP to enable them to recover due to the pandemic,” said Monteagudo.
He added the assistance aims to enable the IP community engage in poultry and goat production by supplying chicken meat and eggs in their community and to the local market.
It is also expected to provide additional income for their families.
“Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, DA will continue to create more livelihood opportunities and extend technical, financial, and marketing support for our farmers under the BP2 program,” said Constantino.
As a response, Mahabbok Luis Lambac, Chairman of OMUADTCEL, expressed gratitude to the agency for the assistance given to them.
"With the high demand of chicken meat and egg in the region, I am very thankful to DA for this additional livelihood for our community. We can also provide available and affordable food for everyone," Lambac stressed.
DA through the livestock program taught the IPs the proper handling as well as the advantages and benefits of poultry and goat production.
"The Lord's time is the most perfect time," Monteagudo said referring to the assistance they delivered to the IPs.
