SM Lanang Premier in cooperation with DA-XI, DA’s Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita, the City Agriculturist Office of Davao City, and the Restaurant Owners of the Philippines held the Farmers’ Produce Weekend Market on August 13-16.

Fruits in season like durian, jackfruit, lanzones, avocadoes, and marang were displayed, as well as locally grown vegetables. Herbs, condiments, seasonings, dairy products, tea selections, coffee, and local wines were also available to consumers.

Exhibitors included The Green Bounty Kitchen, Cacao de Davao, Out Of Nowhere Kitchen, Juice Co.: The Juice Bar, Marina Tuna, Mandarin Tea Garden, Durian Industry Association of Davao, Bukidnon Milk Company, Hijo Harvest, Union Market and Eden Fresh Produce.

Farmers’ Produce resumed yesterday and will continue until August 23 at SM Lanang Premier, Northwing 2 from 10 AM to 7 PM.

It will also launch on Monday, August 24 a modified durian festival through the Kadiwa sa SM Lanang Durian Market at the mall's North Wing ground area. Fruits on sale include durian, mangosteen, pummelo and other Davao tropical fruits.

“Aside from the Kadiwa on Wheels outlets, our farmers now have additional outlets to display their produce through SM’s Weekend Market. This will help both our farmers and consumers - farmers gain access to a prominent area to display their products, and consumers don’t have to scour the city in search of fresh fruits or vegetables,”said DA-XI AMAD chief Janet F. Dobli.

“We mainly provide logistic support to our farmers, as well as consolidate the produce of our local farmers or farmer associations into outlets which are accessible to the consumers,” Dobli added. She also revealed that they are currently working on ‘Kadiwa sa SM’, where they plan to have at least six initial farmer-association participants. | Reicza Olojan, RAFIS11
