The Department of Agriculture in Region XI through its Corn program turnover on Tuesday, July 30 at least P6-Milion worth of postharvest facilities, farm machinery, and agri-infra projects to Savoy Upland Farmers Association (SUFA) in Matanao, Davao del Sur.

These include: one seed storage worth P1.4M with a storage capacity of 6,000 bags, one Multi Crop Drying Pavement (MCDP) worth P283,000 with a capacity of 4-5 tons of corn grains, one four-wheel drive Farm Tractor worth P2.5M, one Hauling truck worth P1.5M, one Corn mill worth P319,000 with a capacity of 208 kg/h, and one Open Surface Pump (OSP) worth P77,000.

“With the help of these assistance, we are expecting a higher yield of 5 metric tons/hectare from our average yield of 3 metric tons/hectare. This will surely give us higher income with less labor cost,” SUFA President Dionesio Soliman said.
