In upholding its commitment to promote agricultural development and inclusive growth, the Department of Agriculture XI (DA XI) launched Monday (February 18) its Malasakit Help Desk in the agency’s compound here in Davao City to fast track the delivery of services among farmers in the region.

In a simple launching ceremony earlier today, DA XI Regional Executive Director Engr. Ricardo M. Oñate, Jr. said that the establishment of the help desk is in compliance with the directive of DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol to re-launch Malasakit Help Desk as ‘an integrated Public Assistance Center’.

“Our Malasakit center will serve as a one-stop window for assistance of the different services and interventions of DA. This is in line with President Duterte’s aspirations for a ‘Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay,” said Oñate.

The one-stop-shop center operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday and will be manned by desk officers to be assisted by other concerned divisions.

Services initially include access to agri-fishery information and data, including those involving registration and accreditation; agri profiling and validation; access to credit facilities, and crop insurance.

“Aside from providing information to our farmers, we will also assist those who are requesting for scholarships, employment, trainings and seminars and inform the concerned agencies,” he said.

Oñate reiterated that the agency and its technical staff is committed to bring its programs and services more closer to the farmers and the public in the region.

The said Malasakit Help Desk complements the Public Assistance Center located in all DA offices as required by Republic Act 9485 otherwise known as the “Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.”
