DA11 Regulatory Chief and Corn Coordinator addresses around 550 School-on-the-Air (SOA) graduates in a ceremony held October 26 at Almendras Gym, Davao City.

2017 Nat'L ORGANIC AGRI CONGRESS | Department of Agriculture in Davao Region together with other organic agriculture stakeholders participated in the 2017 National Organic Agriculture Congress (NOAC) held in Cagayan de Oro.

The three-day congress includes discussion on food wastes and marketing strategies on agri products. Successful organic agriculture farmers and stakeholders will be given recognition during the event.

It will also highlight the accomplishment of the various region as far as organic agriculture is concern.

With a theme Organic:S.M.A.R.T. Culture (Science-based, Market-oriented, Adaptive, Responsive, Transformative), the forum aims to update the Philippine National Standards and technical regulations on Organic Agriculture Program.

DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol proposes to give rewards and incentives to farmers advocating organic farming. Speaking during the 2017 Nat'l Organic Agri Congress in Cagayan de Oro, Piñol assured the organic farmers that DA will provide the inputs needed. He reiterated that DA provides support in technology transfer, financing and marketing of their organic products. He also underscored that the rise of organic products is timely since the world is craving for healthy foods. "I will not stop moving around the country and help our organic farmers. We will let them know that there is this gov't that touches their lives," Piñol adds. 

BANANA CONSULTATION | DA Undersecretary Evelyn Laviña and DA-XI OIC-Reg'l. Director Ricardo Oñate,Jr. in engaging discussions with banana stakeholders: PBGEA, MBFEA, MUBGEA.

The consultation was held October 19 at DA-XI IT Conference Room to discuss pressing concerns on banana price, quality, and marketing.

Among the agreements include: Creation of TWG on quarantine, supply, market; Standardized guidelines for packing houses; and access to credit thru ACPC.
